This position is based in Calgary, AB and will report to TEPCA’s Treasury Lead with functional reporting relationship to Total Group Treasury in Paris, France. The Treasury Assistant is responsible for daily cash management administration and settlement activities, and ensuring they are completed within tight time constraints. The Treasury Assistant will verify that transactions have the required approvals as per the corporate delegation of authority (DOA) matrix before executing transactions.

Main Activities:
• Gather and consolidate information from all departments in order to maintain a detailed forecast of future funding requirements.
• Daily balancing and monitoring of bank account activity, and investigation of unforecasted items.
• Create Drawdown Notices and obtain required approvals to issue Bankers Acceptance (“BA”) or Commercial Paper and forward to appropriate financial institution within strict cut-off times.
• Market the BA notes directly with traders representing financial institutions.
• Create and forward BA trade confirmations to the middle office personnel at the issuing bank and arrange wire transfers for settlement of any differences if necessary.
• Coordinate the issuance of Commercial Paper and medium note terms with headquarters, including the setting of maturity dates, amounts issued, and repayments.
• Petty Cash Management – reconcile and replenish (as needed) Calgary account, monitor Fort McMurray account, update procedure as required.
• Liaison with A/P regarding pay runs. Responsible for wire transfers, EFT, foreign currency payments.
• Initiate, settle, and report spot foreign exchange trades via the proper applications as required.
• Liaison with banks and Accounting Group to help resolve issues regarding transactions, (ie. Incorrect banking information, unidentified deposits).
• Monitor and administer bank accounts. Assist in completing paperwork for opening and closing of accounts, as required.
• Maintain proper banking documents with house bank and enhance communications where possible.
• Maintain log of intercompany loans and interest calculations, provide timely accruals to accounting, and produce quarterly billings to affiliates.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects within the treasury function and provide support to the Internal Control & Compliance team in the completion of Sox activities mainly during Sox control testing campaigns.


Required skills
Education
Bachelor degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Economics.
Experience
Minimum of two years of treasury experience, energy industry experience is an advantage.
Skills
• Knowledge of banking software, wire transfer protocols, and Canadian Payments Association rules would be an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to adapt to a rapidly changing and growing environment and meet strict deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to develop internal network to maximize flow of relevant information and develop processes to capture said information.
• Attention to detail is very important given the critical nature and timing of tasks.
• Must be a team player with the ability to work independently.
