American Embassy Recruits Hausa Translator

Job Title: Hausa Instructor

Job Requirements: The Hausa instructor must be able to meet at the Embassy twice a week for
2.5 hours each day of instruction. This is a total of five hours per week. The classes will be held
on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 5pm until 7pm. The instructor is expected to come
prepared with a course outline for each day’s class.

Compensation: The course will run for 26 weeks. The pay is 17,500 Naira per week. There
will not be any compensation for travel to or from the Embassy or for lodging. This is not an
official Embassy position, so there will also not be any retirement or health benefits.

Job Description:

The Post Language Program at the U.S. Embassy is seeking a fluent Hausa
speaker to teach U.S. Mission personnel basic phrases and terms in Hausa. This position will
teach two different courses. The first course will be an introduction to Hausa. The second
course will provide more in-depth instruction for those Embassy employees with a fundamental
knowledge of Hausa.
